A Short Poem: Inner Love

November 5, 2017

By night on my bed I sought my inner being whom my soul loveth: I sought for myself, but I could not find her.

I will rise up, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek the steps of my journey.  The steps of my lovely soul: I sought out for my inner being, but I found her not.

The watchmen that go about the city found me: to whom I said, Have you seen me here before? The burden of my soul sits in this space, the soul that I love.

It was but a little that I passed from them, that I found myself: I held on to the pieces of me that I missed, and would not let go, until I had brought the hurt and the pain into my mother’s house.

I warn you people of the world, by the hinds of the field, that you do not awaken, that you do not trouble, that you do not interfere with my love, till I please.
